Zone District Trainers Seminar |
| October 17, 2012 |
This course is for District Trainers and all Rotarians with responsibility for organizing and conducting district, zone or regional training workshops, seminars and courses. District trainers provide club and district leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet their responsibilities. The district trainer program focuses on the skills needed to be an effective Rotary trainer and on the practice of those skills. It is also an opportunity for district trainers to share their experience and knowledge with others.
In recognition of the need for adequate preparation and training of district trainers, the RI Board recommends a zone-level district trainer program. The district trainer and district training committee play a key role in the recommended RI leadership development cycle and consistent preparation across zones helps ensure more effective Rotary clubs.
The RI Board-suggested training program is based on the following learning objectives:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the district trainer and the district training committee
- Review the Rotary leadership development training cycle
- Modify an agenda to address the needs of participants
- Learn strategies and tools to design training meetings
- Acquire the skills to deliver face-to-face training with a Train the Trainer program

| Zone Membership & Public Image Seminar |
| October 17 2012 |
The Zone membership and public image seminar has two related components; membership development and Rotary’s public image. The seminar is designed to train district leaders in fostering Rotary’s growth and development through its most basic element: Rotary club members. This seminar helps district leaders in each zone to find ways to support membership development activities at the club and district levels. Public relations efforts are vital to Rotary’s continued growth and service. Creating a positive image for Rotary is the responsibility of every Rotarian, both locally and globally. Effective PR campaigns build positive, strong relationships with their audiences. But promoting Rotary’s work in the best possible way and sharing your stories effectively with the public and the media are not easy tasks. This seminar is an opportunity to share our success and learn the newest approaches to media relations. The seminar is for current and incoming district membership development committee members, public image (public relations) committee members, district extension committee members, assistant governors and all interested Rotary Past Officers. |

Council On Legislation (COL) Seminar |
| October 18 2012 |
This seminar is for COL delegates, alternate delegates and ALL interested Rotarians. It will be held Thursday morning and does not conflict with any other pre institute or institute events. This is to give all delegates to the Zone 24-32 Rotary Institute an opportunity to attend. There will be discussions on how the COL operates, discussion of some of the most important and most contentious resolutions and enactments. There will also be a mock COL session.
The Council on Legislation, Rotary's "parliament," meets next in April 2013 to deliberate and act upon all proposed enactments and resolutions submitted by clubs, district conferences, the General Council and Conference of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, and the RI Board. The Council itself also makes proposals.
The Council on Legislation is an important part of Rotary's governance process. While the Board of Directors sets policies for Rotary International, the Council is where Rotary clubs have their say in the governance of the association. Every three years, each district sends a representative to the Council, which reviews proposed legislation. Every club and district is entitled to submit legislation to the Council, and some of Rotary’s most important work has resulted from Council action. Women were admitted into Rotary because of the action of the 1989 Council on Legislation, and PolioPlus was born as the result of the 1986 Council.
The Council comprises more than 500 representatives from every part of the Rotary world. Voting members include one elected representative of the clubs of each Rotary district. Some nonvoting members include the chair and vice chair of the Council, the RI president, members of the RI Board, and past RI presidents.
